David Wells was born 1977 into an artistic family. He is an eclectic artist having worked professionally as an actor, graphic artist, web designer, circus and street performer, musician, children's entertainer and visual artist.
He has exhibited extensively, and has been awarded over 30 prizes for his art.
His work has been regularly published in international journals, and has featured on the cover of both “The Artists Magazine” (2009) and “The Pastel Journal.” (2009 and 2014) In 2014 “The Pastel Journal” also awarded David “The Grand Prize” in the Pastel 100 Competition.
In 2014 his portrait of HRH Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, was accepted as a gift by the Royal Family and now hangs in the Royal Collection.
For the past 10 years, David has been running workshops and master classes around Australia, and has developed a reputation for his relaxed, generous and entertaining style as a teacher.

Learn the easy steps to making a truly beautiful Portrait in Pastels from internationally acclaimed figurative pastel artist, David Wells who will guide you through the process of creating a portrait with detail, dimension, softness, expression and likeness.
This workshop focuses on rendering a realistic portrait, in clearly explained, achievable steps. Students will employ blending, layering and scumbling techniques to create individual artworks and explore personal expression, within a carefully structured class.
