LYN

MELLADY

Lyn not only teaches the craft of painting but how to add feeling to it. Her representational works have a sensitivity coming from observation and understanding of her subjects. This is felt by the viewer and fully shared with students. Painting has been a lifelong constant for Lyn, whose artwork ran alongside her teaching until it evolved to become her career.

 

With five works in Government city collections in Australia and Japan, and many Best in Show, Best Oil and Best Pastel awards, Lyn paints the untamed inland, rivers, portraits or the coastal edge in pastel or oil. Her landscapes and portraits have been shown in Australia’s Regional Galleries.

 

Her work features in nine art reference books and has also been published in Australian Artist, Pastel International and Australian Palette. A Fellow and Life member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists and member of the Pastel Societies of Victoria, and Australia (Qld), Lyn is called to judge and teach Australia wide.

Is there ever a perfect painting?

While we all hope to continue our experimenting and learning for as long as we paint, it is easy to simply let techniques become the goal in our constant search to improve our painting.

This one-day workshop will work on you as an individual, not a part of a crowd.   Lyn will explain, demonstrate and challenge a small number of artists how to best utilise their many skills and bring their personal creativity and response to their painting. Your painting can become who you are and how you want to express yourself, not someone else’s version.

This workshop will explore the Australian grassed hillside or paddocks bordering a flowing river. We will consider the effects of light, shade, time of year, colour, ground contour and distance also the riverbank, water flow and reflections
